ELCT to celebrate 500 years anniversary of church reformation

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) held a workshop as part of the events to mark 500 years of Church reformation in Tanzania.

The workshop held 7 – 8 October, 2017 at Tumaini University Makumira (TUMA) was based on papers presented on the main theme of the commemoration: “We are liberated by God’s grace”, (Ephesians 2: 8) presented by the Presiding Bishop of ELCT, Bishop Fredrick Onael Shoo and three sub themes.

The sub themes “Salvation is not for sale” was presented by Rev. Dr Nehemia Moshi on behalf of Rev Dr Wilson Niwagila; “Human Beings are not for sale” presented by Rev. Dr Farres Illomo and “Creation is not for sale” presented by Dr Rogate Mshana. A paper on “Women and the Church Reformation” was presented by Rev Alice Kabugumila “Social Services carried out by the Church and its institutions,”Loe-Rose Mbise and Rev Prof. Joseph Parsalaw expounded “The 95 theses of Martin Luther.”

On Sunday 8 October 2017 a solemn and colourful Worship service will be held to mark the climax of the 500 years anniversary of Church reformation celebrations.
