The Secretary General of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania Mr. Brighton Killewa, recently announced that a conference to be attended by all ELCT pastors will take place at the University of Dodoma (UDOM) from 24 to 29 September.

About 2000 people representing all dioceses, mission areas and common work institutions will take part. Papers to be presented will focus on strengthening Church unity towards the forthcoming 500th Anniversary of Reformation to take place next year. The theme of the conference will be: “Our witness”. Bishop Dr. Abednego Keshomshahara from ELCT North-Western Diocese will be the main speaker on the paper about reformation.

Other presentations are: “The Pastor and Christian Education”; “The Pastor and Revival”; “Pastor and Pastoral counselling” and “Worship and Church unity”.

When he was inaugurating the planning committee of the Conference on 20 June, Mr. Killewa urged members of the congregation to pray for the success of the meeting and urged the members of the planning committee to work as a team.

Using the theme of the 19th ELCT Assembly he urged them “to lead a life worthy of the calling, with all lowliness and meekness, with patience, forbearing one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace,” (Ephesians 4: 1-4).

The last pastors’ conference was held at the same venue (UDOM) in 2010 whereby 1,300 pastors attended.
