Päivi Anttila new FELM Representative

Ms Päivi Anttila has taken up her new assignment as the Regional Representative of the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission (FELM) for Tanzania and Congo taking over from Mr. Jari Berg whose term ended in May this year. She took over on September 29, this year.

Born in Honkilahti, Finland 1955, Anttila got her training at Teachers Training Institute in Turku, South West of Finland between 1974 and 1977 and obtained Management training at the Helsinki Business College in 2006.

She has a wide experience of missionary work in East Africa as she was a FELM Missionary in Ethiopia from 1982 to 1994 and then became the FELM Resident Representative in Ethiopia from December 1995 to June 2000 based in Addis Ababa.

From August 2000 to January 2001 Anttila was appointed the Vice Director of the Africa Department at the FELM Head Office in Helsinki, Finland. After the structural changes in the organization she became the Regional Coordinator for Ethiopia and Tanzania and was based in Helsinki from February 2001 to May 2008.

She took the new assignment as Regional Representative for Tanzania and Congo effective September this year and she will be based in Arusha, Tanzania at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) Head Office.

Ms Anttila said it was her sincere wish is to serve the ELCT and her units in the spirit of real partnership. I am thankful for this opportunity to live and work in this country.
