RVOG Development

With the dhawing of state monopoly on the mass media, it was possible for the church to broadcast at regional and national levels. Challenges include fiscal, professional and technical requirements. Yet ELCT must modernise its present "archaic" facilities to be abreast of the world in terms of media outreach. Hence co-operation with other African Churches essential. Coverage must be increased by building more FM booster stations zonally in Tanzania.

RVOG future expectations

Service will include clear signal all over East Africa and Central Africa. TV Service too will reach the whole of Tanzania. Establishment of modern recording and production systems. An efficient Church internet will also be available to all. Overall aim of project is to develop an effective, modern media communication for ELCT to replace the archaic one.

Scope, Mandate and thematical Coverage of RVOG.

Present coverage limited to Manyara, Arusha, Tanga and Kilimanjaro Regions. Legal registration and Church existence render its mandate. Thematical coverage includes subjects such as spiritual, educational, socio-economic, technological and political fields. Those reached include age groups, rural and urban ones, geographical and ecological groups.

Environmental Analysis of RVOG

Internal environment shows the following strengths: accumulated experience of 43 years, experienced staff with sustainability despite meagre capital. Weaknesses include lack of proper financial support from the ELCT. This making RVOG dependent on foreign donors despite the fact that stakeholders are willing to co-operate.
