Welcome to a tour through the Lutheran Radio Center in Moshi. The studio was invented by American Missionaries at the Bible School in Mwika in Moshi. They realized that so many people can be reached through radio broadcasting. In 1962 the studio buildings were completed. The programs that were aired via Radio Voice of the Gospel in Addis Ababa, through Short-wave station, were financed by the Lutheran World Federation. After the station being nationalized ,Trans World Radio in Manzini ,Swaziland aired our programs up to now.
This Radio is really a blessed tool we got from God. With Short Wave Programs ,we can reach about 75 million people who speak Swahili in East and Central Africa. The latest research shows, that about 2 million people listen to Radio Voice of the Gospel regardless of their denominations. The amount exceeds people who worhip God in ELCT Churches. Also, about 15% of our listeners are Muslims! Administration: When you visit the station, you will be welcomed by Mrs Urima. She is secretary to the Station Director. There are two major buildings forming the station:The nearest to gate building, is where the offices are located. The secretary will attend you. When you have questions or suggestions about rates for airing commercials adverts or if you want to see the Director, Producers ,Engineers or Technicians. FM- Department: We have been challenged by our listeners for many years concerning airing our programs through FM channel.years we took Youth were tired to listen to the whistling sound on short-wave since its to hard to tune. To offer an alternative, the FM channel was started too.It can be heard in variety of frequencies, thus FM STEREO ! You can book for Choir recording. Please book through Mrs Lyatuu. Of course they are producing more than 18 hours of programs a day, to be sure you get something on the radio as you listen in !
Studio booking .... Studio Occupation in the past Technical Department: As you have seen: Being on air for more than 18 hours involves great deal of machinery labour. To provide you with the best quality sound the machinery needs to be updated regularly and be in best performance condition. Some technical operator has to be present all the time as well the FM-station is on air, or when all the programs are taped, to make sure the programs meet the international quality standards. Cassette Department: Please contact MrsTemu if you need more copies of cassettes. Please feel free to pass by the Station any time during office hours or simply call: (+255)-(0)27-27 52772.
